Former CFO and COO of Mizuho International and Swiss Re brings four decades of senior leadership in investment banking, hedge funds and financial services
Tower Peak Partners announces the appointment of Stephen Couttie as Chairman of its Global Advisory Committee. A career banker with experience across the full spectrum of capital markets and banking, Stephen brings extensive senior leadership experience in finance, operations and strategy. Stephen will look to strengthen the firm’s financial, operational and governance framework, advise on strategy and growth, and support the firm’s global expansion.
Stephen brings a rare combination of CEO, CFO and COO experience across investment banks, listed hedge fund platforms, emerging market investment businesses and fintech. Over his career he has led businesses through major acquisitions, international expansion and periods of significant market stress, including the global financial crisis.
Stephen spent fifteen years at Mizuho International, becoming CFO and COO of the largest subsidiary of the largest Japanese bank. He then joined Fox-Pitt Kelton, the then only pure play global investment bank for financial institutions where he was group CFO & COO.
He went on to work at RAB Capital, a listed multi strategy hedge fund platform, becoming CFO, before being appointed CEO, steering it through the global financial crisis and expanding it into Asia. He was later CEO of emerging markets investor Collabrium Capital and, most recently, CFO of “banking-as-a-service provider” Railsbank.
Stephen currently holds a number of advisory, non-executive and trustee roles.
